Connecting to The Natural World Labyrinths

Connecting to The Natural World Labyrinths

Labyrinths for connecting, harmonizing, and grounding with the Earth

Introduction:

For me, the center, the heart in the center of each of the labyrinths that I create, connects with the heart of The Earth. For me, this heart is a very special and wonderful connection.

The Earth Connection is one of the primary connections that toddlers and very young children have with the Earth. As their senses develop, they gaze with wonder upon what the Earth offers – day and night, cloud patterns, the sounds that surround them. When they begin to crawl, they reach out and taste the Earth – grass, stones, dirt – frequently to the dismay of their parents. Each sense is and increasingly becomes a connector and connection with the Earth.

These labyrinths offer many ways to connect with the Earth, to re-discover our earliest connection with our Earth, and in so doing, to become grounded in the true sense of the word – to be aware of the Earth’s presence, to know that we are standing upon her, and to feel her inherent support.

Developing Harmony: Finding Our Place in The Natural World Labyrinth

Developing Harmony: Finding Our Place in The Natural World Labyrinth

Name: Developing Harmony: Finding One’s Place in the Natural World Labyrinth

Intention: For many of us, the world of buildings and cars, of roads and bridges, of air conditioning and central heating results in a disconnection from the rhythms of the natural world. When this occurs, many begin to forget that we live upon the Earth and that we and all we do are part of this larger rhythm. This labyrinth is a tool to regain this sense of place and of being part of the Earth and the harmony that comes with this concern.

HeartStone Labyrinth

HeartStone Labyrinth

Name: The HeartStone Labyrinth

Intention: Being grounded means to be consciously connected to the Earth and her Energy. When this occurs, we feel more present, more in harmony, and more solid. We feel as if we have the energy we need to recognize choices and to make decisions in our daily lives. The HeartStone Labyrinth helps us to renew and re-energize our connections with the Earth, and as we do this, to feel her support as we move through our lives.

Special note: The HeartStone Labyrinth was first painted on the industrial carpet that was on the floor of my original studio in Guilford, Connecticut and later made into a 16′ canvas labyrinth that I could take to shows and workshops.
