Special and Commissioned Labyrinths:

Special and Commissioned Labyrinths:

The labyrinths in this section are of two kinds.  There are those that I was asked to create for a specific individual and therefore are the end result of the process of Creating a New Intentional Labyrinth Design for You.  Many of these labyrinths will appear in other sections of the gallery.  However, for those curious about the option of having a new labyrinth created for themselves, these labyrinths serve as examples of how diverse the outcomes are when I am asked to create a new design.  Secondly, there are those that I decided to make because of some important event or something that occurred in my world.

As It Grows Labyrinth

As It Grows Labyrinth

The As It Grows Labyrinth is a tool to help us regain and/or enhance this fundamental feeling of being grounded and to feel again our roots deep within the heart of the Earth.

Crafting The Fabric of Ones Life Labyrinth 800Name: Crafting the Fabric of One’s Life Labyrinth

Intention: To craft our life is to recognize that we create our life through the decisions and choices that we make. As we continue our lives after we make crucial decisions, we need, at times, to re-evaluate some of our decisions, our ethical choices, and our emotional choices in order to determine if our earlier choices and decisions are appropriate for who we are and what our life is now. This process of making decisions and re-evaluating them is how we craft the fabric of our lives. This labyrinth has been created to help with both making the original decisions and re-evaluating our decisions over the course of our lives.

Special notes:  (1) This is new a new form of labyrinth called a Choice Point Labyrinth. A Choice Point Labyrinth is a design that may contain two or more entrances and several points on the path where the user must choose what path to follow. This arrival at a point of choice and having to choose is a primary aspect of everyone’s life. We follow a course of action, and something occurs which makes us re-evaluate the path we are on and the choices we have made or need to make to stay on that path or choices we need to make to enter a new path.

Embracing Trust, Walking With Vulnerability and Safety at Our Core Labyrinth

Embracing Trust, Walking With Vulnerability and Safety at Our Core Labyrinth

Name: Embracing Trust: Walking with Vulnerability

and Safety at Our Core  Labyrinth

Intention: We begin our lives feeling completely safe and trust our world and everything and everyone in it fully. Beginning in childhood, we encounter adults who distrust the world, are no longer willing to be vulnerable and no longer realize that at the bottom of all relationships lies the feeling of safety – the knowledge that though we may give someone the information that will enable her or him to hurt us, the person will not.

When we no longer feel safe, we limit the amount of love in our lives – both that given and that received. The Embracing Trust: Walking with Vulnerability and Safety at Our Core Labyrinth is an energetic tool to help us trust how we know and how we feel, to feel again the deep sense of safety that we did as children, and to enable us to embrace the ourselves and the world again with trust.

Labyrinth type and path: A two handed labyrinth that combine several smaller labyrinths into the large labyrinth pattern.

Embracing Our Ability to Change Labyrinth

Embracing Our Ability to Change Labyrinth

Name: Embracing Our Ability to Change Labyrinth

Intention: The natural world moves in cycles – the seasons, the tides, night and day. These changes can be dramatic and powerful. We too can move through dramatic changes and arrive at a dark place where we feel overwhelmed by our emotions and feel trapped, caught. We no longer believe that we have the power to change; even though we may know this is not true intellectually, we are caught by our emotions and feel that movement is not possible.

The intention of this labyrinth is to enable someone to move towards greater balance and to begin to feel that choice and change are possible.

Labyrinth type & path: Three interwoven labyrinths – two triangles and a circle. This is a two handed labyrinth.
Cost: $600.00 (includes handbook) + shipping and handling

The Journey Through The Heart Labyrinth: The Aligning The Energies Labyrinth

The Journey Through The Heart Labyrinth: The Aligning The Energies Labyrinth

Name: The Journey Through The Heart Labyrinth: The Aligning The Energies Labyrinth

Intention: Our energy is meant to flow in a continual and harmonious pattern throughout our body. At the center of this flow is the Heart just as the heart is at the center of every labyrinth. When we journey towards, through, and away from this center, which is the center of all that we are and all that we will be, we are following the pattern of energy through and around our body.

As we follow this pattern, we are aligning our physical, emotional, and spiritual energies and in so doing are re-establishing this ancient and fundamental energy flow.

Journey Towards Peace: Healing The Wounds of 9/11 Labyrinth

Journey Towards Peace: Healing The Wounds of 9/11 Labyrinth

Name: Journey Towards Peace: Healing The Wounds of 9/11 Labyrinth

Intention: To create a space in which those who died and those who rescued and those who survived can honor and remember the dead and the living and in so doing begin to heal themselves, our communities, and our world.

Special note: This labyrinth was originally designed as an outdoor memorial for those who died in the 9/11 attacks and those who continued to mourn. This labyrinth consists of six labyrinths that are connected yet can be walked individually or two or more in a pattern that works for the walker, all surrounded by a circular pool. This is my response to the tragedy, the horror, and the courage of 9/11. The central labyrinth represents those who died in the Towers. The smaller labyrinths represent the passengers and crew who died in the planes, the first responders, those whose remains could not be identified, the families, and those communities and groups within our society who mourn the loss of friends or co-workers or a sense of safety.

Mourning and Loss Labyrinth

Mourning and Loss Labyrinth

Intention: We all have and will experience mourning and loss. Associated with these emotions are those of anger and fear, which are frequently denied or found unacceptable. However, to complete our mourning, we need to deal with the anger and fear that can accompany it.

The Mourning and Loss Labyrinth takes us on a journey through our mourning and loss and into the unpleasant emotions that accompany them, and can help us to regain that balance and harmony in our lives that grieving can take away.

Labyrinth type and path: A one handed labyrinth. It is useful to run the labyrinth with each hand, either alone or joined together.

Cost: $150.00 (includes handbook) + shipping and handling

Nurturing The Heart Labyrinth

Nurturing The Heart Labyrinth

Name: Nurturing The Heart Labyrinth

Intention: The Heart is the center and balancing point of each of us. When we are born, our hearts are open to all, and we wish to give and receive love. Every child is taught that hearts must be limited. Boys are taught that emotions must be curtailed and only few demonstrated. Boys are taught to take care of themselves first. Girls are taught that emotions should be curtailed and that they should take care of others first. Each is a distortion of the Heart.

When we no longer can love ourselves or others, when we restrict our natural feelings, we create disharmony within ourselves. We create stress and disconnect from our balanced heart, which is at the core of our being.

The Nurturing The Heart Labyrinth enables us to journey back into our heart, to feel centered within, and to again love ourselves fully and deeply. When this occurs, a new balance and sense of peaceful purpose enters our lives.

Labyrinth type & path: A one handed labyrinth composed of 9 intertwined labyrinths

Cost: $900.00 (includes handbook) + shipping and handling

Sea and Sand Labyrinth - Moving With The Four Elements

Sea and Sand Labyrinth – Moving With The Four Elements

Name: Sea and Sand Labyrinth – Moving With The Four Elements

Intention: Traditionally, there are four elements – Earth, Air, Water, and Fire, and these can be seen as either the essence of all matter and energy or the fundamental principles that underlie all matter and energy. As children, we move and play according to how the land feels, the air moves around us, the water puddles at our feet, and the heat we feel within ourselves and cascading from the sun. We do not talk of cycles or rhythms; we just are them

In this labyrinth, the swoops and turns represent the wind driven sand patterns on the beach, the waves’ movement, the gull caught in an updraft, the sun’s fire glinting off the sea and sand. As we follow the labyrinth’s path, we become ever more connected to these fundamental elements and to ourselves.

Special note: This was originally drawn on the red sand beach near our camp site on Prince Edward Island. The lines were composed of blue and white mussel shells and red stones.

Cost: $300.00 (includes handbook) + shipping and handling

Uniquely Ourselves, United In Safety, We Joyfully Leap To Create This Moment and The Next Labyrinth

Uniquely Ourselves, United In Safety, We Joyfully Leap To Create This Moment and The Next Labyrinth

Name: Uniquely Ourselves, United In Safety, We Joyfully Leap To Create

This Moment and The Next Labyrinth

Intention: This labyrinth has at its center a Jewish wedding katubah or contract. This labyrinth represents the celebration that occurs when two individuals, who are willing to explore him or herself, find someone who is also an explorer. As they learn more about each other, they realize that each makes the other feel safe enough to share what is usually private. When this occurs, the two individuals, each on a separate journey, join together to create this moment and the next with love, with a deep sense of safety, and with playful joy.

Special note: The contract is written in the center of a 24″ x 24″ sheet of white archival paper. The labyrinth is painted around the katubah using acrylic paint.
